  • Economic conditions (employment, industry, and exporting),
  • Role in the war (how did they get involved, who got them involved).

Watch video, discuss important scenes and the significance.

  1. What image from the movie lingers in your mind? Explain why these images made an impression on you.
  2. World War I started because of M.A.I.N. Define each and give an example of each. Talk about each and give examples from the movie.
  3. The war had a profound psychological effect on those who survived it. The traditional social values that led them to fight in the war - honor, duty, glory and discipline - seemed hollow and many survivors were upset with and blamed the older generation for allowing this destruction to happen. Explain.
  4. The movie shows what the war was like for the average soldier.Explain and give details from the move.
